Limited News on Top Contributors while OneMain Falls Despite Strong Branch Traffic

Last week, the Opportunity Equity Strategy’s representative account fell -5.80%, underperforming the S&P 500’s 4.22% fall. (Exhibit 1). The strategy ended the week up 6.56% YTD, 792 basis points behind the S&P 500.

There was limited company specific news over the week with QXO, Inc. (QXO) and United Airlines Holdings, Inc. (UAL) both rising on limited news. United Airlines rose through the 50-day and 200-day moving averages.

Piper Sandler decreased their price target on CVS Health Corp (CVS) from $80 to $72 (39% upside) while maintaining an overweight rating.

Nvidia Corp (NVDA) fell through the 100-day moving average on limited news.

Alphabet Inc. (GOOGL) fell through the 200-day moving average. Evercore reported mixed findings from their second search engine survey. 74% of participants selected Alphabet as their primary search engine, down from 80% in June 2024. However, Alphabet’s LLM, Gemini, saw an increase in satisfaction rate with 71% of participants being “very satisfied”, up from 58% in June.

OneMain Holdings, Inc. (OMF) fell through the 50-day, 100-day, and 200-day moving averages. Wells Fargo reported that August branch traffic reached its highest level since 2019 (+1.3% YoY). This followed the company’s significant increase in direct marketing mailings during June and July.

Kosmos Energy Ltd. (KOS) followed Brent’s -9.82% move lower over the week.  

Coinbase Global, Inc. (COIN) followed bitcoin lower.
